During her Artist Intervention Week, Katie Schwab will facilitate two 'Textileworking' workshops, combining practical making sessions with insights into histories of textile design and craft practice.
This stitching workshop we will work together on a large-scale sampler, experimenting with sewing techniques and methods of durational working. Forming a production line of stitching, we will explore collaboration, direction and negotiation within the shared space of the fabric.
About the artist
Katie Schwab’s practice interweaves personal, social, and craft-based histories, often drawing from marginalised and overlooked traditions of living, making and working collectively. Spanning textiles, furniture, print and moving image, her practice seeks to question, and give form to, underrepresented histories of domestic and civic design.
